Organic Eleuthero Root Cut and Sifted (C/S)
Common Names: Devil's shrub
Botanical Name:Eleutherococcus senticosus
Eleuthero Root, also known as Siberian Ginseng, is a woody shrub native to northeastern Asia. The root is woody, brownish, wrinkled and twisted and grows in mixed and coniferous mountain forests. Eleuthero is thought to be an adaptogen and there is a wide range of health benefits attributed to its use in herbal medicine.
Eleuthero is a shrub native to Asia formerly known as Siberian ginseng. However, although the plant is a distant cousin of Panax ginseng, it does not contain ginsenosides.
For this reason, also also in compliance with the US Ginseng Labeling Act of 2002, the herb is no longer called Siberian ginseng but is referred to as eleuthero or, in Chinese medicine, as Ciwujia (Ci Wu Jia).
